Our new Replenishing Multi-Acid Peel works in phases to take skin from dull to glow. Phase one (exfoliating) uses AHA/BHA/TXA acids to smooth and brighten, while phase 2 (nourishing) uses adaptogenic holy basil/lipids to defend and strengthen skin’s surface.
Let's talk in more detail by answering some of the most common questions we get on our new wonder product.
What makes Replenishing Multi-Acid Peel different?
It is exfoliation the way youthful skin intended: effective, not aggressive. Unlike other peels that only remove the surface layer of skin, Replenishing Multi-Acid Peel combines multi-level exfoliation, youth-boosting treatment and intensive nourishment to take your skin from dull to glow in just one step—all while being gentle on skin.
What's an AHA (alpha hydroxy acid)?
Alpha hydroxy acids are a group of natural or synthesized substances. AHAs are water soluble and work primarily on the stratum corneum, resulting in uniform exfoliation of its outermost layers without compromising the skin's barrier. The AHAs in Replenishing Multi-Acid Peel are glycolic, lactic and malic acid.
What's a BHA (beta hydroxy acid)?
In cosmetics, the term beta hydroxy acid refers specifically to salicylic acid. Salicylic acid is oil soluble, allowing it to penetrate pores and deliver its exfoliating benefits to oily skin.
What is TXA (tranexamic acid)?
Tranexamic acid is a bio-engineered amino acid, long known in dermatology for the treatment of pigment disorders. In Replenishing Multi-Acid Peel, TXA helps soothe, brighten, revive dull skin and even tone.
Why did you formulate with 3 different acids, rather than 1?
AHA, BHA and TXA have different actions on the skin, and contribute in different ways to a brighter, more youthful look.
What's an adaptogen and how does it help my skin?
Adaptogens are natural substances commonly used in herbal medicine to help the body stay balanced when challenged by stressful situations. In skincare, they reinforce and support skin’s resistance against stressors that can accelerate visible signs of aging, including dehydration and oxidants/pollution. Holy basil is considered a sacred plant by the Hindus and is an important herb in Ayurvedic medicine.
Can I use Replenishing Multi-Acid Peel (AHAs) with retinol?
Yes. Replenishing Multi-Acid Peel should be used before retinol, and we recommend performing this regimen at night. The resurfacing and nourishing aspects are an excellent complement the renewing benefits of retinol.
Can I use Replenishing Multi-Acid Peel in the morning?
Yes, but always follow with a sunscreen.
Can I use Replenishing Multi-Acid Peel more than once a day?
This product was not developed or tested to be used more than once a day. However, no two skin types are the same, and your skin may benefit from using two times a day. Reduce frequency if sensitivity occurs.
How soon will I see results?
In just 3 days, skin will feel nourished and hydrated. In 7 days, skin will look and feel smoother, and you'll notice improved vibrancy, radiance and glow.
Can this be layered with other Murad Step 2 treatments?
We recommend trying Replenishing Multi-Acid Peel at night, and your other Step 2 treatment(s) in the morning. If you prefer to use two Step 2 treatments at night, we recommend using Replenishing Multi-Acid Peel first. The resurfacing and nourishing benefits can be an excellent complement to treatments that follow.
Can I use on my sensitive skin?
This product was not specifically designed for use on sensitive skin. If you're concerned about your skin's tolerance, start by using every other day.
Why is it green? Is the color artificial?
The color is not artificial. It occurs naturally from a blend of turmeric, eggplant, seaweed and holy basil oil extracts. The green color is a visual cue that the formula is bi-phase, and needs to be properly agitated before application to maximize benefits.
Why is Replenishing Multi-Acid Peel bi-phase?
This product is bi-phase to eliminate the need for a two-step resurfacing/recovery process. When combined, the ingredients create an exfoliation and nourishing treatment in one convenient step. It also helps us formulate without binders to deliver the highest concentrations of beneficial ingredients available.
Will Replenishing Multi-Acid Peel clog my pores?
No, this formula was specifically tested and proven to be non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores).
